About the Event

Mark Gordon's photography will hang in the CW Gallery in April and May.

Photography on exhibit at Collected Works is for sale at the store with all proceeds going to Mark Gordon.

Mark Gordon is a multimedia artist, photographer, and documentary filmmaker, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He studied Film and Photography at LA City College and California Institute of the Arts and participated in an independent master’s program in Fine Art, Art History, and Literature at the experimental Glorieta Pass Ranch Institute once near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mark Gordon's journey in the realm of art has been rich and diverse.

About 50 years ago, he embarked on a photographic exploration, initially using flowers as studies for watercolor paintings and serigraphs. His body of work was inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s giant floral paintings and abstracted non-representational artwork.  Over the years the photographs themselves began to look more like watercolor paintings and developed into a large body of work, with thousands of photographs that he is only now unveiling to the general public.

Mark fell in love with Irises, Roses, and Hollyhocks. He discovered how vibrant and sensual they are, and how they are so beautifully attractive to humans, birds and bees in service of pollination and procreation. There is a world of shape, form, color, and texture that is transformational in nature embodied in the spirit of the flower and plant kingdom. It is his hope that audiences find the spiritual and artistic nature of these expressions of the flower kingdom as uplifting as he does.

Mark's photographic art business is online at MarkJGordonMedia.com, and I have been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can purchase photographs from and by him with confidence about their archival nature.
