faustCollected Works Bookstore hosts lecturer Don Finebar and the Opera Briefings and Breakfast series for a presentation on Charles Gounod's Faust.  The Metropolitan Opera simulcast presentation will follow at the Lensic Theater at 11am, with a rebroadcast at 6pm.  This event is co-sponsored by the Breakfast Lecture Team and Collected Works Bookstore with the cooperation of the Santa Fe Opera Guild. The charge for the lecture is $5; patrons are responsible for their choices from the extensive breakfast menu.  The Coffeehouse opens at 8am, with a 20% discount until 9am.

Don Finebar will brief guests on the Met's latest production of Faust, where director Des McAnuff has updated the story to the 20th Century with the help of conductor Yannick Nezet-Seguin.  "I think Faust is one of the great masterpieces of the mid-19th Century," McAnuff says.  "And I'm interested in its pertinence to today.  With any great work of art, it's about using it as a window to our own lives and times."
